After the General Recall, the Race Committee declared anyone over the line within 1 minute before the start will be disqualified. The line was skewed to favor the pin, and it was crowded. I didn’t get clear air for the start, and almost got into to pin. To get clear air, I sailed far left of the fleet, gambling that the inbound tide had not yet created significant current off shore. That paid off, putting me in 5th rounding the windward mark. The downwind leg was remarkable only for the 4th place boat being notified by the RC that he was way over the line for the start, and therefore disqualified. He peeled-off to the right at the bottom of the course. I maintained my new 4th place on the final upwind, for my best finish of the regatta.
