Sailboat racing from Long Beach, CA to San Diego, CA. Day 27&28/92 (goal) Days passed: 97/365 Nearly 27 hours of racing and the finish comes down to minutes. We raced hard and it paid off. 2nd place in class! The skipper, crew, and boat all did fantastic. I’ve never felt surrounded by more competent people while racing. I hope they felt the same, lol! Winds were good at the start, lowered around the northern tip of Catalina, then built again just as it got dark, requiring a spinnaker to spinnaker sail change with no visibility. We nearly became San Clemente Island residents with 6+ hours of 2-4 knots apparent wind. Oh well, the next morning the wind built and we literally flew to the finish, maintaining a balanced 8+ knots of boat speed reaching with the spin! Special thanks to the skipper for making this all possible! #sailing #sandiegosailing #offshoresailing #islandsrace2022 #longbeach #sdyc #adventure Follow @theoutdoorquarter
